Criteria for making a referal into service at UHO

Making a Referral

Qualifying Criteria

The most important factor when a young person finds them self homeless or in need of accommodation, is that referrals must be able to move swiftly in order for the individual to become safe and housed appropriately.  It must also suit the needs and must be able to offer a friendly and supportive placement.

In order to consider if your young person may qualify entry to Urgency Housing services, and to make a referral,  the following are a guide line only and all individual circumstances will be given equal access and consideration to service.  If you are in any doubt of your clients suitability, please do not hesitate to call on the number listed below;

  • Must be aged between 16-21
  • Must be a Section 20, qualifying child or a Section 17 qualifying child
  • Must be able and prepared to commit to change and follow a support package and individualised support plan
  • Must hold no convictions of arson or Schedule 1 offences

If you feel that your proposed young person meets any of the above criteria then please ring Theresa on 07971214516, who will offer opportunity for assessment and upon acceptance, a comprehensive support package.

  • A time will be arranged to meet with the young person
  • There will be opportunity to view the accommodation and ask questions
  • A Social worker or "other professional" who understands the individual well should also attend
  • A planned "move in" will be decided and arranged
  • Regular progress reports will be completed and shared with all who share the individuals "Pathway plan"
  • There will be an individualised license agreement drafted, and possible "addendums" to adhere to during their stay with us.

At Urgency Housing Organisation Limited we believe that the support package should be led by the young person.
